SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 1
NO POVERTY
1.1
By 2030, eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, currently measured as people living on less than $1.25 a day.
Through our activities in Asia, and particularly in Myanmar, Circuworld has a strong commitment towards the rural poor of Myanmar. We contribute to more sustainable incomes for (smallholder) farmers by creating access to higher quality inputs at lower prices. This leads to higher quality yields, stronger and more resilient crops. Using our Organics Matter® products enables (smallholder) farmers to enjoy lower costs, higher margins and more profitability in their operations. In turn, the higher quality products create access to markets that were previously inaccessible. This is especially true when using our Control Union certified organic fertilizers, which allow farmers to sell their produce as certified organic in new market segments at a premium price.

By 2030, build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations and reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters.
By using our Organics Matter® products by (small) farmers at the lower end of economic development, they can benefit from lower costs, higher margins and more profitability in their activities. Our higher quality products give these farmers access to previously inaccessible markets. This is especially true when using our Control Union certified organic fertilizers, which allow farmers to sell their products as certified organic into new market segments at a premium price.

Circuworld contributes to higher agricultural productivity by creating access to more sustainable and efficient (certified organic) fertilizers and agricultural knowledge. The Organics Matter® organic fertilizers and biological fungicides of Circuworld help restore soil health and increase biodiversity through the introducing of micro-nutrients and organic matter into depleted soils. The organic matter allows a rich and diverse ecosystem of bacteria, insects and beneficial fungi to emerge, which improve the resilience and adaptive capacity of the crop. In addition, the organic matter dramatically improves the water retention capability of the soil, resulting in less water run-off and more efficient use of water resources.

CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION

By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.
When using organic fertilizers as a substitute of chemical fertilizers, leaching of nutrients is prevented and the pollution of fresh water bodies as a consequence of agricultural activity is averted. Also, when using biological fungicide products, contrary to common chemical pesticides, the release of hazardous chemicals and the possible leaching into bodies of water is prevented. With theOrganics Matter® organic fertilizer and biological fungicide products, Circuworld helps to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals in the agricultural sector and their release in groundwater bodies.

By 2030, substantially increase water-use efficiency across all sectors and ensure sustainable withdrawals and supply of freshwater to address water scarcity and substantially reduce the number of people suffering from water scarcity.
The Circuworld Agile Bio-Converter and the Mobile Bio-Converter technology equipped with sustainable heat recovery allows for the recovery of evaporated process water through evaporation. As such, the technology of Circuworld can contribute to increase water-use efficiency and the sustainable utilization and recovery of water. The organic matter component of our Organics Matter®organic fertilizer products improve the water retention capability of the soil, resulting in less water run-off and more efficient use of water resources. As such, both our technology and products contribute to increase water-use efficiency and address water scarcity.

AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY
7.3
By 2030, double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency.
Through the heat recovery systems as part of the Circuworld Agile Bio-Converter and the Mobile Bio-Converter technology, thermal energy is recovered. This heat can be used for sustainable utilization such as district heating, industrial processes, cleaning, and other thermal applications. As such, this technology also helps reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and their related emissions.

By 2030, expand infrastructure and upgrade technology for supplying modern and sustainable energy services for all in developing countries, in particular least developed countries, small island developing States and landlocked developing countries, in accordance with their respective programmes of support.
With the Circuworld Mobile Bio-Converter technology equipped with heat recovery, it becomes possible to recover thermal energy at small scale and with a modular set-up. This technology is especially fit and suitable for utilization in developing countries. It can thereby help expand sustainable energy infrastructure in developing countries, and/or least developed countries.

DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
8.2
Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high value added and labor-intensive sectors.
Organics Matter® organic fertilizer of Circuworld is a technologically advanced product which has been made available internationally. The introduction of these organic products means access to high value, international, certified organic produce markets for sales of the agricultural produce. Using the Organics Matter® products enables (smallholder) farmers to enjoy lower costs, higher margins and more profitability in their operations. Higher farm yields result in more productive farmers that can build additional investment capital. The Organics Matter® products are safe to work with, cause no harm to the environment and provide a benefit to the economic growth of the farmer under safe conditions.

Improve progressively, through 2030, global resource efficiency in consumption and production and endeavor to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, in accordance with the 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production with the developed countries taking the lead.
The Circuworld Agile Mobile Bio-Converter and Mobile Bio-Converter technologies for the treatment of organic waste, manures and agricultural residues helps improve recycling rates and efficient resource usage. This results in a reduction in the material footprint and the domestic material consumption, as virgin input materials are not required. In case of the production of organic fertilizers, such as Circuworld’s Organics Matter® organic fertilizer products, these products result in a reduction of chemical fertilizers and pesticides used, thereby reducing the consumption of finite materials and emission as a consequence of producing and using chemical agricultural inputs. Both production and use of chemical fertilizer engenders environmental degradation. In contrast, Circuworld Organics Matter® products are made from recycled organic material and bring nutrients back to the soil, while reducing the need for harmful waste-management practices. By offering farmers the choice for a more effective, environmentally sustainable and circular product, we contribute to a positive change in consumption and production of agriculture products.

INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and, by 2030, significantly raise industry’s share of employment and gross domestic product, in line with national circumstances, and double its share in least developed countries.
Through the involvement of Circuworld with the development of sustainable organic waste treatment facilities in developing countries and emerging economies, Circuworld aims to directly contribute to the (sustainable) industrialization of these countries by increasing the amount of labor positions in the agricultural and industrial sectors while creating knowledge spillovers and improved working conditions, standards and environment for labor. With these highly advanced facilities, Circuworld also aim to increase sustainable industrial production while actively considering its environmental impact.

By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities.
The technology of Circuworld for the valorization of organic waste, manures and agricultural residues can be implemented as greenfield technology, but is also suitable for retrofitting and upgrading of existing recycling infrastructure. This allows for more energy efficient processing and the expansion with heat recovery technology resulting in greater adaptation of clean and environmentally friendly technologies and processes. Also, the utilization of our modular Mobile Bio-Converter technology is fit for this purpose.

Circuworld utilizes the organic waste of cities and transforms it into the valuable product of organic fertilizer. This process reduces the demand for dangerous and harmful landfills and increases the waste-management capacity of cities while reducing the negative environmental impact of landfill on the urban and broader environment. Our organic fertilizer products and technology create a circular process by which food waste is returned to the soil where new food can grow. Because the Circuworld Organics Matter® organic fertilizer products are made from recycled organic residues and organic wastes, the environmental impact of food loss and related emissions from e.g., landfilling or other harmful waste management practices is reduced. As a result of becoming more resilient through organic matter, crops spoil at a lower rate which also contributes to reduced post-harvest losses. Research has also indicated that shelf life is longer from organically grown agricultural produce. Following this rationale, use of Organics Matter® organic fertilizer products result in less post-harvest losses and more resilient and longer lasting crops.

The introduction of the Organics Matter® organic fertilizers in developing countries - where such products are mostly unknown - requires a tremendous educational effort. A big part of our work therefore is focused on educating and teaching farmers and stakeholders about the benefits of organic fertilizers and setting up trial projects to proof their benefits. These trial farms and demonstration projects are always in cooperation with local farmers and often with local government. Subsequently, the local farmer can act as a second educator for the other farmers in his/her village. As such, these activities contribute to the spread of information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.

Circuworld is active with the proliferation of its Agile Mobile Bio-Converter and Mobile Bio-Converter technologies with heat recovery in developing countries. Degraded land and soil benefits most from a complex system of (micro) organisms that balance nutrients and moisture. These systems can only thrive in organic matter.
